Britain remains divided
WE HAVE not been so divided since the days of the Roundheads and Cavaliers. I don’t blame diehard Remainers from banging on about the referendum result.
Let’s face it, if we Leavers hadn’t won I would have joined in the effort to change the outcome. The question Remainers refuse to answer is, for me, the crux of the matter. Do you support the creation of a United States of Europe where Britain would be a country (or state) within a federal set-up?
If you deny this will be the endgame, how do you explain the progressive steps that have taken place since we joined what we were told was a simple trading bloc? A flag, an anthem, a Parliament, an amalgamated presidency, a foreign secretary, embassies worldwide, open borders, a single currency, moves to harmonise the tax regime, a unified trade negotiating team and soon an joint army.
How do you justify previous re-runs of referendums by other countries until they get ‘the right result’? How do you justify calling for a second referendum in Britain on the outcome of complicated negotiations when you claim people were too stupid to vote on a binary choice?
