Charitable concerns

-

FED up with the environmental nuisance caused by the stream of clothes collection charity bags posted through my letterbox, I decided to check their authenticity.

The charity numbers exist, but their intentions are spurious to say the least. For instance, one claims £50,000 will be donated to charity, yet the annual accounts show an income that’s a fraction of that amount.

Another increased its staffing costs five-fold in one year, but only spent a tiny amount on charitable activities. When is the Charity Commission going to tackle these dubious organisations with huge incomes that spend only a pittance on worthy causes?
