Aid cash to deter African migrants
BRITAIN will spend millions of aid money to help deter African migrants from travelling to Europe, Theresa May said.
The Prime Minister launched a staunch defence of Britain’s £14 billion development budget on a visit to South Africa.
She confirmed she would ‘unashamedly’ reorientate the aid budget to align with British national interests. As part of this, millions will be spent on a scheme to tackle ‘modern slavery’ in West Africa.
It will go towards a new border taskforce to help Nigeria and Niger prevent trafficking across their shared border.
