False insurance claims warning

SCAMMERS are cold-calling people about personal injury claims and pretending to be from the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the trade association says.

It has been contacted by people getting cold calls from fraudsters trying to encourage people to make fake claims.

It said it would never contact people in this way. ABI spokesman Anthony Wright said: ‘If someone does contact you about a personal injury claim saying they work with the ABI, just put the phone down.’
