STATESIDE TOUR James Martin’s American Adventure, 8pm, ITV

AS HE continues the east coast stretch of his American tour, James Martin arrives in the Hamptons, famous for being the playground of wealthy New Yorkers, where he samples some renowned seafood chowder. After rustling up a meal for some local farmers, he joins a fishing boat, before cooking an impressive but deceptivel­y easy lobster dish.

MORE CAKE The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, 8pm, Ch4

FOLLOWING the return of The Great British Bake Off on Tuesday, Jo Brand (pictured) is back with a new run of the companion show. She’ll be chatting to celebrity guests about the latest goings-on in the tent, meeting poor Imelda, the first baker to get their marching orders — and sampling some delicious baked goods, of course.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS Edinburgh Nights With Nish Kumar, 11.05pm, BBC2

COMEDIAN Nish Kumar celebrates the new, the challengin­g and the shows that simply defy descriptio­n in the last of the series of highlights from this year’s Edinburgh Festivals. Russian feminist protest punk rockers Pussy Riot and American musician St Vincent are on the bill, along with a show performed in a burnt-out car.

FILM CHOICES Strictly Ballroom, 1pm, BBC2

BAZ LUHRMANN’S feature debut is less stylised than his later films, such

as Moulin Rouge!, but in a similar vein. It follows young dancer Scott (Paul Mercurio) as he tries to inject his own style into traditiona­l ballroom, and pairs up with a new partner (Tara Morice) — it’s a long way from Strictly Come Dancing.

The King’s Speech, 10.35pm, BBC1

THIS award-grabbing, well-appointed drama tells the story of King George VI, whose stammer was not to be an impediment to his rule. Colin Firth (pictured) is aptly regal in the lead, with Helena Bonham Carter as his supportive wife, and Geoffrey Rush as the Australian with an innovative cure.
