FOOtBALL agent Jorge Mendes made a shameless attempt to justify his diva client Cristiano ronaldo snubbing UEFA by pulling out of the Champions League draw ceremony just hours before the event.

ronaldo won UEFA forward of the season and best goal but was still upset at not being named player of the year in a vote by Champions League and Europa League coaches plus journalists. the winner was Luka Modric, his real Madrid teammate last season.

Mendes, who walked out of the draw hall in Monaco claiming he had transfer business, later called ronaldo coming second to Modric ‘ridiculous and shameful’, adding: ‘he carried real Madrid through the competition.’

Yesterday Mendes just shrugged his shoulders when asked to explain ronaldo’s behaviour — and it was Juventus rather than the agent who informed UEFA that ronaldo would not attend.
