Women should look their age, says Body Heat star Kathleen

-

FORMER Hollywood screen siren Kathleen Turner says while her fellow ageing actresses are under pressure to enhance their appearance with cosmetic surgery, it is a colossal waste of money and time.

‘it’s not like they’re actually getting cast in these roles as younger women when they’re competing with actual younger women, and when everyone in the world knows how long they’ve been around,’ she says. ‘it does a disservice to young women. it makes them fear ageing. it reinforces this Bs, media-driven link between youth and beauty. i want to look my age. i want to be attractive, and i want to look my age.’

The 64-year- old Body Heat star adds: ‘And frankly, i wouldn’t want to look 30 if i could, because the stage roles for women my age are so much more interesting than the roles available to women that age.’
