HE has hardly come out well from this Harry Arter saga. If the accounts and voice recordings from the Irish camp are to be believed, and Martin O’Neill has disputed some parts, it is odd that he would so aggressive­ly ask a player to perform while injured when you consider he has admitted his own regrets from doing so in his career.

MAGISTRATE­S heard how the Tottenham goalkeeper was double the drink-drive limit in his Porsche and was caught by police running a red light and veering towards parked cars. Mauricio Pochettino was right to say Lloris was lucky that there were no consequenc­es to others or himself. But quite why the Frenchman keeps the Spurs captaincy is a bit of a mystery.
