HAS the ‘Kate Effect’ worn off? Any fashion label worn by the Duchess of Cambridge used to enjoy a huge boost to its fortunes, but now one of her favourite jeans designers, Donna Ida, has shut up shop.

The business, whose trousers were also worn by TV presenters Holly Willoughby and Donna Air, has closed both its London outlets, in Belgravia and Chelsea.

‘ They couldn’ t survive crippling rents and business rates,’ an insider tells me.

Its online business has also gone into voluntary liquidation. Where will Kate (left) buy her skinny jeans now?

BODYGUARD star Richard Madden, who disrobed in an earlier episode of the BBC drama to reveal his naked bottom, is happy to share the glory. ‘I did have body make-up on it,’ he says. ‘I don’t sunbathe nude, so yes, that was applied, and it was down to very good lighting.’
