Head-turning winter heels
STRUCTURAL heels, which admittedly don’t look very comfortable to wear, are having their moment in the spotlight. ‘Shoes look better shot as a still life, and a close up really lends itself to intricate details like a statement heel,’ explains celebrity stylist and fashion critic, Alex Longmore.
‘A full length of a model doesn’t look great in a traditional Instagram square picture because the proportions are off and you can’t really see the shoes.’
High-end accessories designer Charlotte Olympia is known for her outfit-elevating statement shoes but now even High Street brands Topshop and Zara are producing footwear with picture perfect architectural details such as round wooden heels.
