Biscuits factory changes hands

JAMMIE Dodgers and Wagon Wheels maker Burton’s has sold its chocolate factory in Merseyside as part of a supply deal with Swiss giant Barry Callebaut.

The Zurich- based firm, the world’s biggest chocolate supplier, has snapped up the lease for the refinery in Moreton, Wirral, and will take on its 48 staff.

It has also agreed to supply more than 12,000 tons of chocolate a year to Burton’s. Barry Callebaut wants to expand in the UK. The deal is for an undisclose­d sum.
