HERO FIRMINO MAKES QUITE A SPECTACLE

THEY have rarely been seen on a football pitch since Edgar Davids, the great Dutch midfielder, wore them . . . but Roberto Firmino, Liverpool’s match-winner against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, sported protective spectacles at training yesterday (right). Having suffered an eye injury against Tottenham at the weekend, Firmino rose from the bench to score with a 90th-minute shot at Anfield. But on the advice of medical staff, he wore the glasses for training yesterday to avoid any further injury. It is not known if he will need to wear them when Liverpool face Southampton at Anfield on Saturday.
