SUSANNA Reid has revealed that she lost a stone in eight weeks after her doctor advised her to shed some pounds.

The Good Morning Britain presenter showed off her new look when she returned to the ITV breakfast programme earlier this month following her summer break.

Asked by co-host Piers Morgan what had prompted her to diet, she said it was because of her high BMI.

The 47-year-old mother of three said: ‘It was a combination of factors, but a doctor said I was at the top end of my BMI.

‘He said it might benefit me if I lost a little weight.’

A healthy BMI score, which is based on a rough calculation based on the relationship between an individual’s height and weight, is between 18.5 and 24.9.

Being overweight puts you at greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes as well as illnesses such as heart disease and some cancers.

Earlier this month Miss Reid revealed that she was cutting out alcohol for September in an attempt to be healthier.

And she previously said she had stopped eating the processed carbohydrates which she craves because of her early mornings.
