JAMES LAWTON DIES

MUCH-RESPECTED sports journalist James Lawton died suddenly yesterday. Lawton, 75, was chief sports writer on the Daily Express and the Independent. Sportsmail’s Jeff Powell said: ‘Very sad that the great James Lawton has died suddenly in Italy at his retirement haven. Great sports writer, great friend, great companion on the road.’
