Not so clever of Trevor to fine me

-

IT’S at times like this that you need to think about the players who are going to feel out in the cold. Working for Trevor Francis, my boss at QPR, taught me how not to do things. I was out in the cold and fined two weeks’ wages for travelling from Newcastle, where we were playing, to be at the birth of my son, George. I’d cleared it first, of course. I was 23 at the time and I vowed then never to behave like that to anyone else. You won’t find me sulking with players and getting them to train with the youth team. I’ll tell them what I think to their face.
