I’ve had enough! Mrs Rees-Mogg tells Jacob: ‘No more children’

FATHER-of-Six Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg played down the prospect of becoming Prime Minster earlier this year, saying he had too many children.

So i am intrigued to learn his wife has now called a halt to any more offspring.

‘i’m done,’ says Helena at the T ory Party Conference.

‘i’ve told him there will be no Septimus and no octopus. i’ve had enough — i’m 40. He wants more but it’s easy for him to say’.

The old Etonian MP , 49, married heiress Helena de Chair in 2007.

Their eldest son is P eter, 11, who dresses identically to his father in double-breasted suits. The remaining brood comprises Mary, ten, Thomas, eight, Anselm, six, Alfred, two, and one-year-old Sixtus.

Just this month Rees -Mogg, his wife, nanny and four of their children were harangued by ‘class warriors’ outside their £5.6million Westminster home. one man shouted to the children: ‘Your daddy is a totally horrible person. A lot of people don ’t like your daddy.’

However Helena took the protest in her stride.

‘We were warned in advance,’ she tells me. ‘We were alerted by T witter but i can assure you it wasn ’t half as bad as it looked. The children weren’t upset by it at all.’

Does she hope her children will follow their father into politics? ‘i’ll be very happy if they stay alive,’ she says.

Perhaps devout Catholic Jacob will now have to take a vow of chastity to comply with his wife’s wishes.

When asked if he believes in contraception, Rees - Mogg once replied smiling: ‘The teachings of the Church are clear on this.’
