CRYSTAL OCEAN SKIPS ARC FOR ASCOT

- MARCUS TOWNEND

ENABLE heads the 22 possibles for Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe but the John Gosden-trained 2017 winner will not have to face King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner-up Crystal Ocean.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt was well beaten by Enable in the September Stakes at Kempton. It would have cost £106,500 to add him to the Longchamp line-up at tomorrow’s supplementary stage and he will now be aimed at the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Sea of Class is set to be supplemented. Trainer William Haggas said: ‘The forecast looks dry and we’re happy with her, so that’s the idea.’
