Tax fightback

CONTRACT workers who used loan schemes to reduce their tax bills have launched legal action to fight Government demands for repayment. The 1,600 members of the Loan Charge Action Group say they were advised that it was legal to use the schemes, which involved receiving their earnings through ‘loans’ that didn’t need to be repaid. HMRC is seeking £3.2 billion in unpaid taxes.
