Bikinis at 50-plus? If you’ve got it, flaunt it!

-

WELL done, Mariella Frostrup, who at the age of 55 says she will never ditch her bikini (Mail). I am not giving up mine either. I am 66 and wore a bikini on holiday in Antibes on France’s Cote d’Azur this summer. I enjoyed wearing bikinis in my youth, but after having three children I lost confidence in my figure and started wearing one-piece swimming costumes. When I reached my 40s, a friend suggested I tried a bikini again. I did — and have never looked back. Bikinis are more comfortable and cooler than a one-piece. I wear a matching cover-up for walks along the beach and lunch in a beach-side restaurant. Women of any age, shape or size can wear a bikini as long as they feel confident in it.

VAL TAYLOR, Preston, Lancs. IT’S good for us ladies in our 50s to prove we can still wear a bikini. There is too much attention on younger celebrities and models pictured on holiday in bikinis. I’m almost 51 and wear mine with pride — my stomach is toned enough to show off my four-pack. I will carry on wearing a bikini because age is just a number. Exercise, healthy eating and genetics keep me in good shape.

ERICA HACKETT, Moorlands, Staffs. WE ArE in our 70s and still wear bikinis on holidays and in our back garden. As a size 8 and 10 respectively, we don’t look too bad and see far worse sights on our trips!

GAILE ALLEN and GAYNOR HOPKINS, Coventry.
