Amazon to give women Prime voice
AMAZON Prime could introduce all-women commentary line-ups for their Premier League coverage, after the idea proved popular in NFL shows. The streaming site broke new ground this year by appointing a two-woman broadcast team for their weekly live NFL show. Now, with just over a year to go until they begin broadcasting Premier League football, Amazon bosses appear to be considering replicating that model. The US tech giants have won the exclusive live rights to 20 top-flight fixtures a season from 2019, and said they will capitalise on having ‘huge resources’ and the flexibility to offer multiple audio options. Speaking at the Leaders in Sport Business Summit, Alex Green, Amazon Prime Video’s managing director, said: ‘We take the core Fox feed for the NFL with their commentary team, but we decided to offer viewers an alternative all-female commentary team. ‘That has gone down very well.’
