Hold my hand ...bride’s help for Nervous Jack

UNDER the harsh glare of the global spotlight, Jack Brooksbank could be forgiven for turning into Nervous Jack yesterday.

With TV cameras primed on him amid a tense hush in St George’s Chapel, he grimaced as he struggled to push the wedding ring over Eugenie’s finger.

After he fumbled with the band for a few moments, she touched the ring to make sure it was fitted properly before giving him a smile of loving reassurance.

He arrived at the chapel rubbing his hands anxiously and was later seen wiping his eyes in an apparent attempt to stem tears before the service.

His bride did her best to keep him calm, however, telling him to hold her hand as they sat together during the ceremony.

The jittery groom later appeared shocked by the scale of the crowd which had assembled outside the chapel as the couple emerged following the service.

Eugenie encouraged him to kiss her, and the crowd cheered as Mr Brooksbank’s nervousness finally eased.
