The Flyboard Air took four years to develop and is said to cost around £200,000

It is propelled by five 250-horsepower engines on the underside of the board

Its inventor, Franky Zapata, lost two fingers in the turbines while making his first flight on it three years ago

He claims it is ‘impossible’ to ride the device without having spent 100 hours practising in water and 20 hours studying it

The Flyboard Air has reached speeds of up to 110mph – some 50mph faster than a drone

Powered by an 82lb kerosene-filled backpack, it can hover at 500ft for around six minutes
