Touch wood, my home’s my haven

- Tricia Sturgeon, Mundesley, Norfolk.

I’ve got a tree in the kitchen, In fact, there might even be two, Masquerading as table and chairs And painted a nice shade of blue. A tree is supporting the telly, Another is holding my books, While some are caring for treasures In all sorts of niches and nooks. Trees are a-framing the windows And one has turned into the door, There’s quite a few holding the roof up While yet more are boarding the floor. In truth then, I’m living in woodland And that’s such a comfort, you know, For it lets me tune in to Earth’s rhythm, Helps me to go with the flow. So when life gets somewhat frenetic, Putting me into a spin, I reach out and touch an arboreal arm And let some serenity in.
