Sky set up team to keep anti-racism top of agenda
SKY SPORTS NEWS have assembled a specialist investigations team to focus on keeping the anti-racism agenda at the forefront of their programming.
Sportsmail can reveal that experienced journalist Roger Clarke will head the unit, which has been set up to enhance the network’s anti-racism coverage in the long term. The global fight against discrimination has garnered worldwide focus since the death of George Floyd in May. Sky Sports, like many broadcasters, have comprehensively covered the issue of racism in sport in recent weeks.
However, the channel are aware that the topic risks losing traction as the sports news agenda evolves. This move led by channel director Mark Alford, to assign a team of correspondents tasked with ensuring the issue remains prominent across all of their platforms, underlines the network’s commitment to change. Last month, Sky announced a series of commitments to help tackle racial injustice, which included a £30million investment.
