Daily Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - NEWS - BY SHEENA MCSTRAVICK

THERE was a sprinkling of Disney magic in the air as the cast of a popular teenage show returned to Northern Ireland for filming. The Lodge was the highest-rated series premiere on the Disney Channel in the last four years. And it’s back for a second season with filming, which got under way yesterday, taking place entirely at Montalto Estate in Ballynahinch, Co Down. The music-filled drama follows the story of 15-year-old Skye who returns with her dad to her childhood holiday lodge in Northern Ireland. Sophie Simnett, who plays Skye, said: “We love it here. Obviously the weather’s not great but last year we went to the Giant’s Causeway and had a little touristy moment. “All of the crew here are amazing, they’re such a superbly talented hub of crew here. It’s great to work with them.” Thomas Doherty, who plays Sean, added: “We saw some of the Game of Thrones filming locations as well which was pretty cool. “Belfast is so beautiful, the people are so nice.” Executive producer Steven Andrew said the estate provides “one of the most beautiful settings for any children’s drama”.
