A STAR of England’s partially sighted football team was spared jail yesterday for punching a rival player and breaking his nose. Sean Briscoe had to get married wearing a nose brace after John Mcdougall attacked him on the pitch in February last year. Mcdougall, 29, was playing for Birmingham Sports against North West Scorpions at Birmingham Futsal Arena when they clashed. Ian Windridge, prosecuting, told Birmingham crown court: “It has been very traumatic. He was left to attend his big day with a nose brace. It greatly affected his self-esteem.” Mcdougall, of Sheldon, admitted assault occasioning ABH. He was given an 18-month probation order. The Football Association has also banned him.
