Tributes to tragic school­boy, 15, af­ter bat­tle against cancer

HEART­FELT tributes were last night paid to a tragic school­boy who lost his bat­tle against cancer.

Joshua Martin, 15, from Co Down, had been sup­ported by well-wish­ers from around the world through the #Pray­for­josh cam­paign. His mother Kim said: “We are dev­as­tated be­yond words to tell you

our beau­ti­ful son passed away this evening.” Writ­ing on Facebook, she added: “Joshua was the most amaz­ing young man, brave and ma­ture be­yond his years. To all of you, our friends and fam­ily, who have loved us, sup­ported us, and jour­neyed with us, we want to say thank you.” Tributes flooded in for the teenager with Ban­gor Elim Church, where dad Tim was on the pas­toral staff, post­ing: “Such heart­break­ing news tonight. “Josh’s courage, brav­ery and de­ter­mi­na­tion to live a nor­mal life de­spite his ill­ness was truly in­spi­ra­tional.” The Ban­gor Gram­mar pupil, from Don­aghadee, was di­ag­nosed with cancer on Christ­mas Eve 2014 af­ter doc­tors dis­cov­ered tu­mours in his ab­domen.
