THE tragic baby girl who died after being left inside her father’s car will be buried on Monday. Seven-month-old Chloe Fogarty passed way on Thursday afternoon from suspected heatstroke on the hottest day of the year. The baby was the first child of Paul and Louise who are planning a wake at their home tomorrow evening. Mass of the Angels will take place at St Nicholas’ Church in Solohead, Co Tipperary, the next morning. It has emerged Paul was in contact with a friend and county councillor to discuss planning permission for a new home just hours before the tragedy. Michael Fitzgerald told the Daily Mirror: “They are building a new house in the parish. “They were planning a future for their family but within a few hours everything had changed. “The birth of his baby seven months ago was the highest point of his life. That baby was everything to him.” The couple married in 2015 and have been living in Tipperary town but were planning a move to the village of Kilfeacle.

ALARM

Paul brought Chloe with him on Thursday morning as he set off for work at O’dwyer’s Steel in Dundrum, Co Tipperary, where he is a manager. He was due to drop her off at creche but it is thought he forgot the child was in the back of the car when he pulled up in the village. Chloe was asleep when he arrived. She was in a rear-facing car seat, which meant only the back was visible from the driver’s seat. The rear windows of the car were tinted so no one passing would have seen the tot. There was no shade on that part of the main road on a day when temperatures peaked at 25C. Mr Fitzgerald added: “It was just an awful case of human error. “This wasn’t his usual run. He offered to take the baby because Louise had something to do. “Paul totally forgot she was there because he was consumed in his work. “If the baby was chirping in the back of the car he would have heard her, but she was asleep.” When the alarm was raised the local GP and emergency services tried to resuscitate the baby. She was rushed by ambulance to the nearby Golden-kilfeakcle GAA grounds where she was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick and later pronounced dead.
