-

MUSIC stars have been gathering to record Simon Cowell’s fundraising single for the victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster. The Voice Kids Pixie Lott, 25, said releasing a version of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water was “the least we could do”, as she arrived at Sarm Studios in West London, just half a mile from the wreckage. Former X Factor star Tulisa Contostavlos, 28, said it was a “privilege” to be involved. She added: “It’s just such a horrific time. It’s amazing we can all get together and do the right thing, just help out. It’s very emotional.” Emeli Sande, 30 - who was named in the Queen’s birthday honours list over the weekend said: “It’s really inspiring to see people come together. It gives you faith in humanity, and also how amazing the London community is. I think it’s going to be really emotive for people.”

AMAZING

Stereophonics star Kelly Jones, 43, said: “People are pulling together in communities. “That’s what happens when devastation happens. People pull together – taking clothes and toys down. Just pull together. It’s all you can do, really.” X Factor winner Louisa Johnson, 19, said it was “amazing” how Simon had got so many people involved so quickly. Saturday saw Rita Ora, Leona Lewis, Paloma Faith and Craig David record segments. Today, The Who’s Roger Daltrey will lay down his part, as well as One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Robbie Williams. The song, produced by Trevor Horn, is due to be released this week. Stormzy, 23, and Tokio Myers, 33, have also contributed to the track, which will include a 300-piece choir led by Gareth Malone, 41. It will feature local choristers, tower residents and classmates of children who lived in the block. Gareth told the Mirror: “I said it has got to have local people involved.” Leaving the studio, Westlife’s Shane Filan, 37, said: “I had never sang it before, and it’s a beautiful version of it, too.” Kidulthood star Noel Clarke, 41, also joined the session, as did singer John Newman, 27.
