Lynn loss enrages Oak boss
Waterford 0-13 Derry 1-17 All-ireland SFC Qualifiers Rnd 1A DERRY boss Damien Barton has criticised captain Enda Lynn for lining out with his club ahead of Saturday’s first-round qualifier at Fraher Field. The Greenlough forward exacerbated a hamstring injury when he came on in the second half against Slaughtneil five days earlier. “Enda didn’t start because he participated in a league game stupidly on Monday night. Enda is crazy whenever it comes to football and training. “He came into a game against Slaughtneil and it was 3-2 at half time so Enda thought he could do something. He reaggravated a hamstring injury which was stupid on his part.” In the blistering sunshine, Danny Heavron buried Waterford with a terrific goal after 50 minutes. The away team came out for the second half and recorded 1-5 on the spin. Emmett Mcguckin and Mark Lynch entered the fray and left a mark. The Oak Leaf men shot 17 wides by the end but are in the mix for round two. Manager Tom Mcglinchey was unsure about his future afterwards. “I’ve got a great relationship with the county board, with the players and with our tight knit group of supporters. Tonight’s not the night to be talking about that.” SCORERS - DERRY: D Heavron (1-1), J Kielt (0-3, 2fs), D Tallon (0-3), N Loughlin (0-2, 1f), C Mcfaul (0-2), R Bell (0-2), E Mcguckin (0-1), M Lynch (0-1), N Keenan (0-1), C Mckaigue (0-1).
