Downton rail stock trashed

-

VANDALS wrecked vintage train carriages used on Downton Abbey.

The eight teak coaches, dating from 1930 to 1950, were targeted in the early hours of yesterday.

They were in a siding in Pickering, North Yorkshire.

The carriages run on the North York Moors Railway, whose manager Chris Price said: “They had windows smashed and furniture ruined.”

Volunteers on the line say it’s unlikely the coaches will run again this year.
