Liverpool cool Van Dijk chase

VIRGIL VAN DIJK could be forced to stay at St Mary’s with Liverpool reluctant to wreck their renewed relationship with Southampton.

The £60million-rated defender is training alone after telling new boss Mauricio Pellegrino he wants to leave – and the centre-half will not travel to France this week for a training camp and friendly against Saint Etienne.

But following peace talks involving the owners, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will not bid for Van Dijk unless Saints stage a U-turn on their insistence that they will not sell.
