Angry dad pulls kids out of class after attacks

“That was at 11.30am on Tuesday. I haven’t even been contacted to say if the boy has been suspended. Not even one phone call.

“They are in the wrong. I have a copy of the anti-bullying policy and I didn’t even get past the first page without things circled and highlighte­d.”

Craig said this included points such as “bullying will not be tolerated in the school” and “parents who have raised a concern about bullying will be reported back to fully and promptly”.

He added: “I have been waiting four days. If this wee lad hadn’t done this video, we wouldn’t have seen it.”

A school spokespers­on – who wouldn’t provide their name or job title – said: “The school is aware of the situation and unfortunat­ely we can’t comment on individual cases.”

Police in Newtownabb­ey said they have received reports of two assaults on a 12-year-old boy at a school in Glengormle­y.

Constable Manderson said: “Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any informatio­n to contact Newtownabb­ey police on the nonemergen­cy number 101 quoting reference 980 06/10/17.

“Alternativ­ely they can contact the independen­t charity Crimestopp­ers on 0800 111 555.”

A spokesman for NSPCC Northern Ireland said: “Bullying, regardless of whether it occurs in person or online, can have a devastatin­g physical and emotional impact on a child, leaving them isolated and potentiall­y triggering mental health issues.

“We urge any victim of bullying to speak out to a trusted adult or to the NSPCC’S Childline service.”
