Angry dad pulls kids out of class after attacks
the school yesterday. Craig said: “I walked out with my two children.
“That was at 11.30am on Tuesday. I haven’t even been contacted to say if the boy has been suspended. Not even one phone call.
“They are in the wrong. I have a copy of the anti-bullying policy and I didn’t even get past the first page without things circled and highlighted.”
Craig said this included points such as “bullying will not be tolerated in the school” and “parents who have raised a concern about bullying will be reported back to fully and promptly”.
He added: “I have been waiting four days. If this wee lad hadn’t done this video, we wouldn’t have seen it.”
A school spokesperson – who wouldn’t provide their name or job title – said: “The school is aware of the situation and unfortunately we can’t comment on individual cases.”
Police in Newtownabbey said they have received reports of two assaults on a 12-year-old boy at a school in Glengormley.
Constable Manderson said: “Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information to contact Newtownabbey police on the nonemergency number 101 quoting reference 980 06/10/17.
“Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.”
A spokesman for NSPCC Northern Ireland said: “Bullying, regardless of whether it occurs in person or online, can have a devastating physical and emotional impact on a child, leaving them isolated and potentially triggering mental health issues.
“We urge any victim of bullying to speak out to a trusted adult or to the NSPCC’S Childline service.”
