No complaint but Dubai Brit still risks jail

Daily Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - NEWS - BY ELLIE FORBES

A BRITON may still go to jail for touching a businessman in a Dubai bar – even though the complaint has been withdrawn.

Jamie Harron, 27, was arrested after Emad Tabaza said he was repeatedly touched on the thigh.

Mr Tabaza said he did want to press charges after hearing Harron, of Stirling, could be jailed for three years for public indecency, but the case has continued.

Harron denies he was drunk and says he touched Tabaza’s hip to stop him spilling his drink. Radha Stirling, head of Detained In Dubai, said: “This got blown out of proportion.”

Jamil Mukadam, 23, of Leicester – at risk of six months’ jail for a rude gesture at a Dubai motorist – is free after the “victim” failed to turn up at court.
