NEIL WARNOCK has hit out at Iceland’s decision to play Cardiff midfielder Aron Gunnarsson.

The Bluebirds ace captained his country to their first World Cup finals this week, starting vital wins over Turkey and Kosovo.

It came despite Gunnarsson (left) reporting for international duty with what Warnock said was a slight muscle tear in his leg. “I was disappointed. Aron played more than an hour in both games,” said the Cardiff chief.

New boss Steve Cotterill watched from the stands as Blues were demolished 6-1 by Hull – leaving them third-bottom. But he said: “We have been positive from the Monday when I started after Hull. They have been excellent.”
