Heroic dogs save family in home fire
A GRANDAD’S two dogs saved his family from a devastating house fire.
Border terriers Holly and Poppy barked to wake Tony Baker, 59, and his wife Jacky, 68.
They were asleep when the roof of their terraced property caught alight, the flames spreading from the lofts of neighbouring properties in Leicester.
Tony, who fled just in time with Jacky, grandson Jack and the dogs, said: “They were scratching at the bedroom door and barking, desperate to get our attention.
“Had it not been for Holly and Poppy, one of us or our neighbours could have lost our lives.
“They’ve been good girls and will be getting a treat and some nice new beds when we move back in.”
