- BY TOM PETTIFOR Chief Crime Correspondent

A SUITCASE filled with £1million of jewels has been stolen from a train.

The bag contained 40 gems, including rubies, emeralds and sapphires, and was swiped from a Birmingham-based jewellery dealer who was going home from a business trip to London.

He boarded the 7.03pm Virgin Trains service at Euston at about 6.30pm and placed his black suitcase on a luggage rack. But when the train reached Rugby, the 35-year-old dealer said it had gone.

Police yesterday released images of a man they wish to interview about the theft last Wednesday.

The dark-haired man was shown on CCTV images, apparently talking on a mobile phone.
