Bom­bardier joy over 24 plane deal

BOM­BARDIER are set to sell as many as 24 C Se­ries planes, it emerged yes­ter­day.

Egyp­tair has signed a letter of in­tent for 12 firm or­ders, with an op­tion for a fur­ther 12.

The value of the deal would be around £1.7bil­lion if Egyp­tair buys all 24 planes, though in prac­tice the air­line can ex­pect a dis­count.

The C Se­ries’ wings are made at Bom­bardier’s East Belfast op­er­a­tion , pro­vid­ing em­ploy­ment for about 1,000 peo­ple.

DUP East Belfast MP Gavin Robin­son said: “It shows that com­pa­nies are giv­ing Bom­bardier a vote of con­fi­dence and are will­ing to do busi­ness, given the in­ge­nu­ity of the work­force here.”
