Woman’s hor­ror in­juries as lit fire­work thrown into car

Ap­peal after Hal­loween at­tack

A WOMAN was left with se­vere in­juries to her arms and legs after a lit fire­work was thrown into a car.

The PSNI is ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion over the at­tack in Cook­stown, Co Ty­rone, days be­fore Hal­loween.

Of­fi­cers have re­leased shock­ing im­ages of the in­juries.

The fire­work smashed the side win­dow of the car be­fore re­bound­ing around the car and ex­plod­ing in­side it.

The woman sus­tained burns to her arms and legs and cuts from fly­ing glass as a re­sult.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened in the car park of Green­vale

Ho­tel on Oc­to­ber 29 at around 10.45pm. Lo­cal Sinn Fein Coun­cil­lor John Mcnamee said young peo­ple need to be aware of the dan­gers posed when us­ing fire­works.

He told the Mir­ror: “This is a reck­less use of fire­works and young peo­ple need to know the dan­gers that come with them.

“I would urge any­one who has in­for­ma­tion on this in­ci­dent to con­tact the po­lice and en­sure the likes of it doesn’t hap­pen again.”

A PSNI spokesman said: “Any­one with any in­for­ma­tion that can as­sist with the in­ves­ti­ga­tion to con­tact of­fi­cers in Magher­afelt on 101.”
