‘Gardai know IRA men who killed my dad’

-

MURDERED jail boss Brian Stack’s family have claimed gardai kept information from the inquiry into his death.

Portaloise’s chief prison officer was shot in the back by the IRA in 1983 and died 18 months later.

It is now claimed “significant information” is being kept on file by gardai in order to protect the identify of an informant.

His son Austin said a retired senior garda told him in 2015 an IRA informant gave him the names of people involved.

However, Irish Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan said yesterday he has been assured by Garda top brass there was “no impediments” to information by gardai.
