PROBLEM AFOOT FOR GERS’ ROSS
RANGERS are sweating on the fitness of Ross Mccrorie after the youngster was crocked at their Florida base camp.
Sources at the Ibrox club say the 19-year-old has suffered a recurrence of the foot injury from last month’s win over Ross County when he crashed into an advertising board.
Mccrorie has played five games since then but it’s believed he’s damaged it again at their IMG training complex in Orlando this week.
Initially it was feared that the midfielder had chipped a bone in his ankle, which could have ruled him out for up to six weeks. But Rangers claim that’s not the case and Mccrorie is toiling with the foot problem.
It’s now doubtful if he’ll play any part in the Florida Cup games against Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians during their winter break trip.
Mccrorie and Rangers will hope he’s fit to play in their next competitive match – a Scottish Cup tie against Fraserburgh on January 21.
Meanwhile, Kevin Thomson has revealed his pride at being back at the club as the club’s under 13s coach.
Thomson will continue to run his own academy while grooming the club’s next galaxy of stars. He said: “I’m obviously delighted.”
