Royals’ cake idea is a bit half-baked

There’s controvers­y over the cake for Meghan and Harry’s wedding, with some ardent patriots asking why California­n Claire Ptak is making it. And when you consider British TV has devoted roughly four million hours over the past few years showing clever people baking cakes, they have a point.

Others are asking why Meghan has ditched the fruit cake, which is usually made for all royal weddings, in favour of a sponge. I’d like to see it as an ironic nod to the British taxpayers. An admission that now she’s a Windsor, sponging is what she’ll be doing for the rest of her life.
