Alf treasures go under hammer
A PAPER knife given to Sir Alf Ramsey in 1972 to mark the centenary of the FA Cup is just one of many treasured mementos that are being sold by the football hero’s relatives at auction.
The sale features silverware given by the FA to England’s only World Cup winning manager, as well as a letter appointing him to the role in 1963.
Other lots include his personal souvenirs of England’s historic triumph over West Germany in 1966.
The 30 lots will be sold in Campsea Ashe, Suffolk, next Monday – the day of England’s match against Tunisia.
James Shand, of auctioneers Clarke and Simpson, said of the mementos: “There is a lot of history attached.”
