Cop censured after warrant address gaffe
A POLICE officer has been disciplined after a search warrant address change led to a drugs caution being dropped.
An Ombudsman probe found that although the correct address was on the warrant application, the wrong one was on the document itself.
As the blunder was spotted just as the search was about to start, the officer struck it out and put the original address in.
An Ombudsman spokesman said: “He did not believe it necessary to have a new warrant.
“He decided to strike out the wrong address and write in the correct one – a step he described as an ‘administrative error’ perhaps due to a lack of concentration.”
