Man faces jail for preventing burial of OAP
A MAN who prevented the burial of his dead neighbour and used her bank card to spend £6,000 on pizzas was yesterday warned he faces jail.
Robert Sharkey, 24, was remanded in custody on a series of charges linked to Marie Conlon.
The 68-year-old’s body lay undiscovered in her Larkspur Rise home in West Belfast for two years.
Belfast Crown Court heard Sharkey – who had lived in the flat above Ms Conlon for around five years – used her card almost daily to buy pizza.
He also paid her rates bill in a bid to avoid detection.
Judge Piers Grant branded Sharkey’s criminality as “a wicked, wicked series of offences”.
