Tory to Scot: Speak slowly

Daily Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - BRIAN READE -

A SCOTTISH councillor accused a Tory of xenophobia after being asked to talk slowly in a meeting so he could “understand” him.

Alex Paterson, 41, was interrupted by Barry Kemp at Medway Council, Kent.

Mr Paterson, originally of Glasgow and Labour’s man for Rochester West, said: “I told him he was ignorant.

“If there’s no apology for xenophobic remarks, there will be no apology from me for responding to it.” Cllr Kemp denied xenophobia.
