Geoff builds wooden tank

Daily Mirror (Northern Ireland) - - BRIAN READE -

A CARPENTER has made a life-sized First World War-era tank – from wood.

Geoff Armstrong, 58, started making the 28fttall replica of the 29 tonmark IV in January.

It is made of plywood, a plastic tube for a gun and plaster of Paris rivets.

He has spent 500 hours on the centenary project, which can be seen at Carlisle Castle in November.

Geoff, of Brampton, Cumbria, said: “It’s just me with saws and a measure.”
