Choc a lot as co­coa up 7%

CHOCO­LATE treats could be­come more ex­pen­sive in the run-up to Christ­mas af­ter co­coa prices soared.

The com­mod­ity rose 6.9% on the world mar­ket last month af­ter the Ivory Coast and Ghana, which pro­duce 60% of it, agreed to align pric­ing so farm­ers could have a liv­ing wage.

It came as de­mand for choco­late rock­eted, said trade ti­tle The Gro­cer, with fears the in­crease could be passed on to con­sumers.
