Hotel kill bid: Man in court
A MAN appeared in court yesterday in connection with the attempted murder of two women and serious assault on a man who tried to help them.
The female victims aged 60 and 58, from Northern Ireland, suffered slash and stab wounds outside their Edinburgh hotel in the early hours of Thursday.
Peter Cameron, of no fixed abode, appeared in the city’s Sheriff Court on petition in connection with the incident. Cameron, 38, made no plea and he was remanded in custody.
The case was continued for further examination and the accused is expected to appear back in court within eight days. Cameron was charged following an incident outside the Apex hotel in the city’s Grassmarket at around 3.35am on Thursday.
Two pals from Northern Ireland and a 37-year-old night porter were treated in hospital for slash and stab injuries.
Police launched a manhunt after the incident when the women, who were wearing their pyjamas and smoking outside the hotel, were seriously injured.
