Pair quizzed over death of man found in alleyway
TWO people were being quizzed by police yesterday after a man was found dead in an alleyway.
Pat Ward was discovered in the Mccrea Park area of Clogher, Co Tyrone, on Saturday.
Police said a postmortem is now to be carried out but the case is being treated as murder.
Officers have not released the details surrounding the death.
Mr Ward, understood to be a member of the Travelling community, was originally from Sligo but had settled in Clogher.
The county’s Fine Gael representative Blaine Gaffney went to primary school with Mr Ward.
He told the Mirror: “It comes as a massive shock to hear this tragic news.
“I knew Pat from attending the Mercy Primary School in Sligo and I know his extended family here who still live in Sligo.”
Det Chief Inspt Peter Mckenna said: “A 33-yearold female and a 23-yearold male have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.”
Anyone with information should call 101.
